Hello Michael and Maryam,

I hope your week is going well. As previously mentioned, ECCC-CWS has been working to provide more information to the NL Committee in support of increased minimum buffers around bird colonies. We have conducted an analysis that demonstrates the percentage of foraging birds within the Focus Area that would benefit from increased buffers of varying size. We also demonstrate the impact of extending bird colony buffers on the total area proposed for future licencing. As has been previously indicated to the Committees, buffer recommendations for bird colonies should be determined on a case-by-case basis, in consultation with the Regulator and ECCC-CWS.

Please find the colony buffer analysis document for transmittal to the NL Committee attached. If there are any questions we are happy to discuss!

Thank you for your continued patience on this important piece.

Christine
