Replacement of the doors of locks 1 and 2 at the Lachine Canal

The project consists of the complete replacement of the gates of Locks 1 and 2 of the Lachine Canal NHS in Montreal. Preliminary analyses of the gates of Locks 1 and 2 have determined that the gates and the mechanical systems for opening and controlling the water levels (valves) cannot be repaired and, therefore, must be completely replaced and modified. The project will replace the lock gates, currently made of wood, with gates made entirely of steel. The project includes dewatering of the work area and relocation of aquatic wildlife.
