North Shore Railyard Expansion

Please note this project has previously been posted on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, Reference number 83132.

The proposed project

Richardson are proposing a rail-focused expansion of their North Vancouver terminal. The proposed expansion focuses on the following pieces of work: 

  • Construction of 15 additional storage tracks; 
  • Realignment of tracks within the existing yard;  
  • Addition of crossovers and turnouts within the existing yard;  
  • Installation of truck turnaround area, emergency access road and construction of new vehicular access gates (security and emergency); and 
  • Various associated works such as installation of new lighting, fencing and utilities.

Latest update

September 23, 2022 – Transport Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Transport Canada is inviting public comments until October 23, 2022 respecting that determination.
