Long Point (Amherst Island) Crib Repairs

Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours is planning to demolish a portion of the deteriorated timber cribwork and make necessary safety repairs to the existing structure located at Long Point (Amherst Island) Small Craft Harbour. This project includes the following: 

  • Removal and disposal off-site of the collapsed sections of timber crib and any loose timbers associated
  • Nailing/bracing down any other crib members near the removal line of the work
  • Reinstatement of existing barricade

No heavy equipment is to be used on the timber crib or adjacent property, work is to be completed using hand-held equipment and tools.

Notice of Intent to Make a Determination – Start of Public Comment Period

September 10, 2021– Fisheries and Oceans Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting public comments until October 10, 2021 respecting that determination. .
