Construction of Land Vehicle Crew Training System Building

CFB Shilo Manitoba The Department of National Defence is proposing the construction of a training facility at Canadian Forces Base/Area Support Unit (CFB/ASU) Shilo (the Base).

The Land Vehicle Crew Training System (LV-CTS) project will be a stand-alone facility which will house a simulator hall, control and command rooms, classrooms, after action review rooms and training planning and development rooms, as well as simulation system and facility system support rooms. Networking scenarios would be available between Bases that would enhance the training experience for crew and platoon training. There will also be areas for contractors to maintain, develop and run the systems.

The estimated area of the facility will be 3,415 metres squared with an additional 964 metre square footprint for a 30 stall parking lot and access road off Patricia Road. The facility will include a full basement and have two stories above ground with a total space requirement of 3,524 metres squared. Associated concrete walkways will be constructed around the building.

The project site is located on a fully serviced lot that is currently vacant and fully grassed. The building will utilize existing roadways for access and will be connected to existing utilities. The building design will meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Standard and be certified.
