Refurbishment of the Senkus and LaSalle Coke Crane footbridges on the Lachine Canal path

Parks Canada is planning to refurbish the Senkus and LaSalle Coke Crane footbridges on the Lachine Canal path. Most of the work will be carried out on the structure. It will include changing some parts that are in poor condition, removing the paint (which contains lead) and repainting the structure, as well as replacing the drainage system. Work will also be done on the bearings, the decking joints and the profile of the approaches.

A temporary platform and enclosure will be installed for the painting work. Clean-up of the vegetation around the abutments is planned once the bird nesting season is over.

The work is slated to begin in fall 2020, partly overlapping the boating season, but the work will have no impact on boating.

No work is planned below the boating water level during the summer.
