I've been an employee with Teck for over 10 years now and a resident of the Elk Valley for almost 7 years and support the advancement of Castle Mountain.

Both my husband and I are employed by Teck and I have significant concerns if this expansion does not go forward. Fording River employs over 1300 employees and the impact on losing employment for these individuals is significant. Further, we own multiple properties in the Elk Valley and there is a concern on the impact on real estate prices and ability to rent if Castle does not move forward. I've already seen a negative impact on Elkford and the local economy as a result of COVID-19 and the local economy will be impacted even more if Fording River cannot continue to employee over 1300 employees (a lot making their home in the Elk Valley).

During my career, I've been proud of Teck's focus on the environment throughout the mining process to the point where we've been recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for a decade now. I'm confident that as Teck continues mining into the new development in Castle Mountain that this focus will continue and hope that our environmental track record is considered.
