Shxw'owhámél First Nation Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Project

The Shxw'owhámél First Nation (the Proponent) is proposing to construct recreational infrastructure on previously developed Shxw'owhámél First Nation Indian Reserve Lands. The proposed Project will feature a new playground to replace existing again playground equipment, a spray park, and a combined slo-pitch and soccer field. The project will also include the installation of a lighting system to allow for greater seasonal access.

The Project would include the following components:

  • Replacement of existing playground with new playground equipment;
  • Construction of a spray park;
  • Development of a combined slo-pitch and soccer field with an associated lighting system;
  • Associated minor clearing works, grading, excavations; and
  • Installation of plumbing, electrical utilities, and associated features.

Notice of Intent to Make a Determination – Start of Public Comment Period

May 4, 2020 – Infrastructure Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Infrastructure Canada is inviting public comments until June 3, 2020 respecting that determination..
