Water and Sewer Utility Systems Recapitalization - Phase 2

The purpose of the project is to replace all distribution water main and services, and sanitary sewer main and services including the septic fields within the various sections of the Newman Sound and Malady Head Campgrounds within in Terra Nova National Park.

Project areas include the distribution main leaving the water treatment plant/pump house and replacement of the existing wood stave tank, water distribution mains and sanitary sewers in Newman Sound Campground loops H, I, J, K, L, M and dumping station area, loops D, E, F and G as well as the water main and fire hose boxes in loops R, F and Q.

Septic fields (3) will be installed in the vicinity of Loop D, E, & H respectively.

Project works also include water services to kitchen shelters, replacement of sanitary sewer services to existing washrooms and water bottling filling stations.

Replacement of the water distribution mains and sanitary sewer system including 3 septic fields at Malady Head Campground. Septic fields located near the existing trickling plant, group tenting and the day-use area respectively.

Latest update

1 May 2020 – Parks Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Parks Canada is inviting public comments until 31 May 2020 respecting that determination.
