Maintenance Dredging at Millerand Fishing Harbour

The Small Craft Harbours Branch of Fisheries and Oceans Canada proposes to undertake maintenance dredging at Millerand fishing harbour, located in Magdalen Islands, in the Québec province.

The maintenance dredging aims to provide safe and accessible facilities for local fishermen. 

The scope of this project includes maintenance dredging of the channel and the basin.

The maximum volume of dredged material is about 14 000m3

The proposed dredging will be carried out by means of a barge with opening bottom, a hydraulic shovel or a crane equipped with a half shell bucket.

Dredged sediments will be submerged at sea in an authorized disposal site.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours Branch, intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting public comments until December 5, 2019 respecting that determination.A public participation period is underway.
