The Proposed Project
Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation is proposing the construction of the Mikinaak Community Youth Recreation and Cultural Centre. The project will have a footprint of approximately 13,510 m2 that will need to be cleared for the construction of the access road, cultural centre building, parking lot, and auxiliary structures such as transformer, generator, fire water pump house with below-grade reservoir, septic holding tank, pump chamber and leaching bed. Physical activities include clearing and grubbing of vegetation and re-grading of the site, blasting for the installation of the watermain and foundation, construction of the building and roadway access, and installation of utilities (water, sewer, and electricity).
