The proposed project

The City of New Westminster is proposing to rehabilitate and stabilize a failing segment of existing rip-rap shoreline protection, approximately 130 metres in length, along the Queensborough Dike.

The Project would consist of:

  • Site preparation, including removal of vegetation, anthropogenic debris, existing rip rap and profile and grading the slope
  • Placement of geotextile, filter rock, rip rap and fill, if required
  • Vegetation planting on the rip rap bench and riparian area

Project activities would be conducted in out-of-water tidal conditions (i.e., in the dry) to the extent feasible and staging and laydown areas will be situated on land (i.e., above the high-water mark).

Project activities may need to be completed outside of the port authority's standard working hours should daytime tides be unfavourable.
