June 5, 2023 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The project will involve the installation of backwater valves on eight existing stormwater outfalls at Canadian Forces Base Kingston. The backflow prevention valves will provide a long-term solution to mitigate effects of high water from Lake Ontario on existing infrastructure. The work will include, removing damaged outfall pipe ends and replacing with new sections of pipe, and installing the backwater valves within the stormwater pipe.
