Miawpukek First Nation Water Treatment Plant Expansion – Public Comments Invited

May 24, 2023 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Miawpukek First Nation Water Treatment Plant Expansion, located in Miawpukek First Nation, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

The project includes the expansion of the existing water treatment plant with the addition of office space, restrooms, chemical storage including secondary containment, and 190 m of new fencing around the perimeter of the facilty encompassing 2,250 m2.

Activities include site preparation, excavation for installation of new septic holding tank and building footings.
