Replacement of Runway Paving and Lighting at the Heliport – Valcartier Military Base

January 9, 2023 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The project scope includes the replacement of the asphalt and concrete tarmac shoulders, the replacement of the ground marking, the replacement of runway lighting, the replacement of the underground electrical distribution, the installation of a manhole for the underground circuits, the replacement and displacement of the runway lighting control shed and to install a new concrete surface of roughly 1300 square meters next to the existing helicopter parking area for a future sprung shelter.
