Notice of Time Limit Suspension with Reasons

Ottawa — November 24, 2022 — On November 22, 2022, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) suspended the 180-day time limit within which it must provide QSL International Ltd. (the proponent) with a notice of the commencement of the impact assessment of the Sorel-Tracy Port Terminal Project, if the Agency decides that an impact assessment of the project is required.

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent that the time limit be suspended in order that it may have sufficient time to provide the Agency with a notice that sets out:

  • how it intends to address the issues referred to in the Summary of Issues, provided to the proponent on
    October 26, 2022; and
  • a detailed description of the project that includes the information prescribed by the Information and Management
    of Time Limits Regulations
    .

When the proponent has provided the Agency with its response to the Summary of Issues and a detailed description of the project, the Agency will post a notice that the prescribed activity is completed and the 180-day time limit will resume.
