The Proposed Project

The proposed project Site is located in the National Capital Region within the boundaries of DND property. The site, approximately 40 km southwest of downtown Ottawa, is approximately 83 hectares in area bisected into two parcels, 46 hectares on the north side ("north portion") and 37 hectares on the south side ("south portion").

The proposed project will take place within the boundaries of DND owned property. The project consists of new construction and recapitalization of existing buildings to provide requisite space to accommodate DND operations and personnel. The proposed project will include the following phases:

 • Site preparation phase - this phase is expected to include clearing, grubbing, topsoil stripping, and tree removal in the north and south parts of Site to prepare construction areas. This may occur in a staggered approach based on confirmed implementation plan. This phase would also likely include security fencing and preliminary site grading;

 • Construction phase - this phase is expected to include the construction of new buildings on the north and south parts of the Site, as well as associated utilities and civil work. The new infrastructure is anticipated to be composed of 10+ buildings, both single and multi-story structures, with varying degrees of multi-purpose infrastructure. Implementation of construction is expected to be staggered to maintain unit operations. Associated utilities and civil works are expected to include water, sewage, electrical, communications, road crossing, and stormwater management;

 • Renovation / Demolition phase – Renovations and demolition of existing buildings involving mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, architectural and specialty disciplines are expected to be required both in order to create space for new infrastructure as well as to recapitalize existing assets. This phase of the project is anticipated to overlap with a portion of the new construction phase and will develop as new infrastructure is commissioned;

 • Site restoration – this phase is expected to consist of reinstating and restoring all disturbed areas during the construction. It is expected to happen in a staged approach as areas of the site are completed.
