The Proposed Project

Stoney Tribal Administration plans to upgrade the water treatment and distribution infrastructure on Big Horn Reserve No. 144A. Proposed works include the extension of 10 km of the existing distribution pipes, the construction of a new Water Treatment Plant, the upgrade of each existing well's long-term yield and peak withdrawal capacity, an upgrade of the existing filtration process, an upgrade of the existing reservoir to 900 m3, a new 100m3 Storage reservoir, 2 Pressure Reducing/Sustaining Stations and upgrades to the existing school reservoir. Proposed project activities include clearing vegetation, removal of topsoil, grubbing, and re-grading. The proposed construction method is to use an isolated open-cut for the distribution pipe's water and wetland crossings.
