Notice of intent to make a determination

Pelican Lake Community Harvest Program Phase 2022-2024 - Public Comments invited

July 14, 2022 - Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Pelican Lake Community Harvest Program Phase 2022-2024, located on Chitek Lake IR 191, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Pelican Lake First Nation is intending to continue with Phase 2 of our community timber harvest program.  There are some parcels of land which we did not get harvested in 2021 which we would like to continue and harvest this season on Chitek Lake IR 191.

Saskatchewan Forestry FMA logging standards will be followed through our timber harvest program

Multiple Land Locations are included in the Community Timber Harvest Plan, including:

Only waste generation which will be non-merchantable wood which will be handled in the following manners:
- firewood for band members
- piled and managed through pile burning at a later date
- scattering woody debris through cut area.
