The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defense (DND) wishes to carry out work for the installation of 9 new groundwater observation wells. Seven of these wells will be built in a wooded area and the other two in a grassy area. It is planned to use a sonic drill for the boreholes realization which makes it possible to reduce the use of water to a minimum. Drilling will reach 35 to 65 meters estimated depths. The work will also require deforestation in five different zones as well as two access roads construction and an existing road widening to allow machinery access to the site, for an overall potential area of 6 309 m2. The deforestation work will be carried out following the end of the migratory bird nesting period. Borehole cuttings and wells development water will be sampled and managed according to analysis results and applicable regulations.
