The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which consists of the demolition of the residential housing units (RHUs) and associated ancillary structures located at Newport Corner, Nova Scotia. This includes the complete removal, transportation, storage, and disposal of all hazardous materials. The project includes the demolition of six single family RHUs; two rowhouse RHUs; four single-car garages and one double-car garage; and six sheds. Ancillary structures will also be removed, including clothesline poles, concrete supports, and associated timber platform/decking; exterior patios/decking/timber fences/lattices; fence concrete supports; and waste bins/planter boxes/posts. Removal of at least five 900-litre above ground storage tanks and all associated piping and equipment will also be completed.
