Installation of Potassium Acetate Tanks – Public Comments Invited

September 23 2022 – The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) must determine whether the proposed Airfield Surface Deicing Storage tanks located at Toronto Pearson International Airport is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, the GTAA is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. The Proposed Project

This project will provide on-site bulk fluid storage with the installation of two 20,000 US gallon fibreglass storage tanks. The tanks will house potassium acetate; which is a deicing fluid used on runways as an alternative to chloride-based material. The additional capacity for winter operations will located at the Airfield Maintenance Facility adjacent to an existing storage tank
