The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which involves the design and repairs to the Albert Head Float. The plan is to replace the existing floats, piles and gangway with a new concrete float, pile-supported walkway and gangway. The new float and gangway will be oriented to the east and further from shore to provide increased water depth required for the structure. The new float and walkway will require approximately 16 piles to be installed.

To support the design, the design consultant will complete a geotechnical investigation. Borehole samples will be collected near the proposed locations for the new piles (approximately 6 locations). The depth of drilling is estimated to be 15 meters below the mudline or until bedrock is encountered. The boreholes will be up to 150 millimeters in diameter.
