The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which involves upgrading and relocating portions of the small arms range located at Canadian Forces Base Kingston. The range is a significant training asset in Eastern Ontario. This range has been in operation without major upgrades for several years, and is in need of improvements and modernization. In its current configuration, the range cannot be fully utilized in coordination with adjacent ranges. Environmental considerations include potential impacts to species at risk, and various environmental media. Mitigations include, ecological surveys, soil management plans, & various specifications for monitoring the migration of contaminants related to range and training activities.
