Paved Berth Access – Harken Towing – Public comments invited 

February 4, 2022– As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Paved Berth Access – Harken Towing, located at 1990 Argue Street, adjacent to Harken Towing's berths on the river, Port Coquitlam are likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by March 5, 2022.  

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project 

Harken Towing Co. Ltd is proposing to level and pave an area of approximately 787 square metres, adjacent to the Pitt River at 1990 Argue St., Port Coquitlam. The paved area is intended to provide access to Harken Towing's berth area. The paving will include the relocation of an office building, the installation of drainage, including a sump and oil water separator, and the replacement of utilities. All construction activities will occur on land and no in-water work is proposed.
