Notice of Determination for Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Southend Lot Drainage and Improvement

October 6, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation Southend Lot Drainage and Improvement is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the upgrades to the drainage and lots will benefit the community membership
-no comments were received from the public about the project
-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of the following mitigation measures is required for the project:
-side slope design and maximum grades will be adhered to
- refueling practices will meet all federal and provincial requirements.
- sediment and erosion control measures will be developed as part of the detailed design which will consider the use of erosion control matting, silt fences/barriers, rip-rap rock and the establishment of vegetation on sloped areas.
-all activities will occur within existing developed road right-of-ways.

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
