Notice of Determination for Kahkewistahaw First Nation Solid Waste Transfer Station 

October 8, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Kahkewistahaw First Nation Solid Waste Transfer Station is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the existing solid waste transfer station at Kahkewistahaw has reached the end of its life span, and the construction of a new solid waste transfer station will benefit its membership
-review of design drawings
-no comments were received from the public about the project
-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of the following mitigation measures is required for the project:
-clearing for project will happen in non-breeding times between October and March

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
