Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination

September 15, 2021 - Infrastructure Canada and Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Rehabilitation of the Access Road to Three First Nation Communities Project, located within the Whitefish Bay reserve No. 33A and No. 34A, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Infrastructure Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

Project summary :

This project consists of the rehabilitation of the access road between Highway 71 and the First Nation communities of Naotkamegwanning, Animakee Wa Zhing #37 and Northwest Angle #33. The project proponent is the Naotkamegwanning First Nation. The project scope includes the rehabilitation of approximately 3.6 kilometres (km) of road, the work includes replacement of the road surface, improvements to drainage ditches and culverts, removal of shoulder vegetation, addition of signage and replacement of cable guiderails and posts. The project aims to improve the reliability of the road asset and contribute to the overall road network in Ontario.
