Notice of Determination for Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation - Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

August 4, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation - Water Treatment Plant Upgrade is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the existing water treatment plant at Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation has reached the end of its life span, and the construction of a new water treatment plant will benefit its membership
-the construction of the water treatment plant will provide employment opportunities for members of Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation
-no comments were received from the public about the project
-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of the following mitigation measures is required for the project:

- Solid waste generated during construction will be hauled to an approved landfill.  Liquid waste generated during construction will be hauled to approved wastewater treatment facility.  
 
Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
