Amendment to the permit expiry date for the approved Univar Canada Rail Expansion with Tent – Public comments invited 

June 29, 2021 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Amendment to the permit expiry date for the approved Univar Canada Rail Expansion with Tent, located at 1545 Bay Street, North Vancouver is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by July 28, 2021. 

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed amendment, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed amendment

The Permit Holder proposes to carry out physical activities related to the completion of the Univar Canada Rail Expansion with Tent up until August 31, 2022. This would require an extension to the approved project permit (PER No. 20-029), which has an expiry date of August 31, 2021. 

The extension is being requested as a result of project scheduling delays. The scope of works that will be completed during the extended period remains unchanged, and includes the construction of a new 120 metre rail storage track, and the installation of a fabric tent over the new and existing track.
