Notice of Determination

Ottawa – 17 September 2021 – The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and National Capital Commission have determined that the proposed project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • community knowledge;
  • comments received from the public; and
  • technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination relate to:

  • control of dust and emissions/pollutants
  • noise control
  • spills management
  • hazardous materials and designated substances
  • erosion and Sediment Control
  • protection of soil, groundwater, and surface water quality
  • employee health and safety
  • protection of fish, species at risk, and migratory birds
  • vegetation / tree protection and removal
  • management of disease / pests / invasive species
  • protection of archeological / paleontological resources

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and National Capital Commission are satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and National Capital Commission may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
