Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
New RV Compound at CFB Borden

March 1, 2021 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence Real Property Operations proposes to construct a New Recreational Vehicle (RV) Compound for occupants of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Residential Housing Units (RHU) to accommodate approximately 154 parking spaces, with an estimated area of 12,254.4 m2 (fenced). West of the fenced RV Compound will be used for the temporary storage of shipping containers with an estimated area of 2,079.6 m2 (unfenced). Two additional laneways will be constructed, one to the RV Fenced compound and one to the unfenced temporary storage, with a total estimated area of 1,475.9 m2. The total gross area of the compound is approximately 15,809.9 m2. This compound will be located on Canadian Forces Base Borden, approximately 5.5 km southwest of Angus, Ontario.
