Base Refueling Point Tank Replacement

February 9, 2021 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. The Proposed Project

Work under this project includes all permits, materials, labor, transportation, equipment and all other items and services required to decommission, demolish and remove from site one (1) 25000L and one (1) 50000L diesel fuel storage tank and install one (1) 75000L diesel fuel storage tank at the Base re-fueling point near building N-132 as well as replace 2 fuel pumps and associated piping at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Shilo, Manitoba. This work includes, but not necessarily limited to: Disconnect existing piping, pumps and associated wiring, decommissioning, removal and demolishing of existing diesel fuel storage tanks, extend existing gravel pad under 50000L tank to accommodate new 75000L tank, install new 75000L diesel fuel storage tank, re-install existing pumps, piping and associated wiring and commissioning new tank for use. Contractor to provide completed federal and provincial regulatory forms required to have tank certified for service.
