The Proposed Project
The Lion's Head harbour is located on the west shore of Georgian Bay approximately 50 km southeast of Tobermory. The harbour is an active facility under the administration of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Small Craft Harbours Branch (SCH) and acts as a refuge location for transient boaters during storm events. Frequent storms have resulted in sedimentation build up around the breakwater and into the harbour, impacting access around the harbour. Dredging has periodically been required to maintain a functioning harbour.

Accordingly, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is planning to undertake a small maintenance dredging project in the Lions Head Harbour to maintain safe ingress and egress to the harbour and mooring basin.

Up to 650 m³ of dredged cobble stone and sand will be dredged from the around the breakwater and the adjacent floating dock. The material will be disposed of off site.
