The Proposed Project

Teal-Jones Group proposes to conduct maintenance dredging of up to 4,000 cubic metres of accumulated sediment and wood waste from their industrial water lot. The average target depth is -1.9 meters Local Low Water (LLW). Maximum depth will be -4 meters LLW at the eastern, deeper parts of the proposed footprint and will be 1 meter in the shallower parts of the dredge boundary. The proposed dredge footprint and depth remain unchanged from previous years. Dredging will be conducted using a clamshell bucket from a barge mounted derrick. Dredged sediment will be loaded on to an adjacent flat scow barge, positioned within the water lot. The applicant is seeking a multi-year permit to dredge periodically. Dredging is proposed during the June 16 - February 28 least risk window for fish and fish habitat. Once loading is complete, the dredged materials will be towed and disposed at sea. The works will take up to 3 days.
