Red Sucker Lake First Nation New Landfill – Public Comments Invited

26 November 2020  – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed New Landfill, located in Red Sucker Lake First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Red Sucker Lake First Nation (RSLFN) is located approximately 710 km northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The community is accessible all year round by air travel and by winter road during the winter months.

The total registered population of RSLFN is approximately 1,128 members, based on the regional

population statistics (January 2020).

 

The proposed Waste Management Facility (WMF) is located north of RSLFN on reserve Land,

approximately 500 m north of the existing Band Tankfarm Site. The site location plan is shown on

Cover Sheet. The new WMF is designed to serve the community of RSLFN with a lifespan of

approximately 30 years.
