Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
Power Plant and Distribution System, Op IMPACT, Ali Al-Salem Air Base, Kuwait

November 18, 2020 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Canadian Task Force on Op IMPACT in Kuwait will construct a new centralized power plant. This will include the construction of a new reinforced concrete pad with a berm, installation of two one mega-watt generators, the construct of two sun shades and a new Power Distribution Unit (PDU) concrete pad with a cable pit. This project will also include the purchase and installation of four (4) main conductor runs required to interconnect the Camp's main Power Distribution Unit (PDU) to the Camp's Secondary Distribution Units (SDUs).
