Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
Upgrade Priority 1 Water Lines – 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown

November 18, 2020 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The project includes five separate locations for pipe replacement. Work will include all design phases, including survey and geotechnical investigations, implementation which includes excavation, installation, environmental protective measures and site restoration. The five areas are:
1. 45° 49' 55" N, 66° 26' 44" W - 500 lineal meters of 400 millimetre diameter water main, laterals, connections and appurtenances from the intersection of Maugerville Avenue and Ganong Street to the water tower.
2. 45° 50' 08" N, 6° 27' 16" W - 130 lineal meters of 250 millimetre diameter water main, laterals, connections and appurtenances from Champlain Street to Cumberland Street between building J7 and J10.
3. 45° 51' 18" N, 66° 26' 07" W - 600 lineal meters of 400 millimetre diameter water main, laterals, connections and appurtenances from Northumberland Avenue to the wastewater treatment plant.
4. 45° 50' 25" N, 66° 27' 47" W - 930 meters of 350 millimetre diameter water main, laterals, connections and appurtenances from the intersection of Tilley Avenue and Broad Road to the intersection of Tilley Avenue and Jemseg Avenue.
5. 45° 50' 41" N, 66° 27' 52" W Project 3 consists of the replacement of approximately 850 lineal meters of 400 millimetre water main from Champlain Street to the Waasis Road.
