Notice of determination for the Muskowekwan Gas Bar & Convenience Store

November 2, 2020 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Muskowekwan Gas Bar & Convenience Store is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the Muskowekwan First Nation held a designation vote with its membership
-the Chief & Council has requested by Band Council Resolution that a s. 53 Indian Act lease be issued for this property
-the continued operation of the Gas Bar & Convenience Store will provide employment and training opportunities for members of the community
-an emergency response plan is in place for the operation of the Gas Bar & Convenience Store
-the fuel storage tanks are registered with Environment and Climate Change Canada
-a waste and recycling contract is in place, and no liquid, gaseous or hazardous waste is  generated by the operation of the gas bar and store
-any wastewater produced is connected to the Muskowekwan lagoon

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
