The Proposed Project

The Halifax Port Authority (HPA) is proposing a Truck Gate and Container Examination Facility , located on HPA lands at Fairview Cove Halifax, Nova Scotia. The project would include the construction of a truck gate and container examination facility. The Truck gate consists of new asphalt pavement access roadways and marshalling lanes, truck scales, electronic processing equipment and a small gate house. This work will cover approximately 1.93 hectares with four in gates, two exit gates and staging capacity for up to 140 trucks. The container examination facility is adjacent to the truck gate, shares the Africville Road intersection and access roadway and consists of an asphalt pavement compound of approximately 1.80 hectares with an 11 bay 2,700 square meter warehouse. These components will require site excavation and subgrade preparation, gravels and asphalt, underground water and sewer services, electrical and communication duct banks, concrete foundation installation, complete warehouse and gatehouse construction, exterior lighting, and fencing.
