The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence has an operational requirement to construct a 25-Metre (25m) Range at the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) 14 Wing Greenwood. The site selected for the new range is currently within the active 14 Wing Greenwood Skeet Range site. The 25m Range site is approximately 1km northeast and outside of the active airfield operations zone (AOZ) at Latitude 44°59'43.94" north and Longitude 64°53'32.45" west. The 25m Range site is sand and grass covered and occupied by one existing structure associated with the Skeet Range. Other Skeet Range structures (buildings, towers) are west and northwest of the project site. The project will involve construction of a stop butt with bullet catcher(s), shelter for the stop butt and installation of targets. The project Site will require some earthworks (e.g., excavation / removal and/or infilling, grading) to accommodate the range footprint and specific features. The 25m Range construction will follow DND Operational Training – Range Construction and Maintenance (B-GL-381-002/TS-001) policy.
