The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence proposes to replace a section of the powerline located within the Greenwood Golf Club at Canadian Forces Base 14 Wing Greenwood, Greenwood, Nova Scotia (44°59′04″North, 064°55′01″West). The portion of the existing powerline to be replaced is deteriorating, does not meet industry standards and is a safety hazard. The project involves the installation of eight new power poles and framing of the new powerline. Seven power poles will be installed south of Highway Number. 1 towards the Annapolis River and one power pole will be installed across the Annapolis River. In order to facilitate the powerline replacement minor vegetation clearing is required approximately 10 metres east of the existing powerline following the existing utility corridor; vegetation clearing will not occur within 100 metres of the Annapolis River. Once the new powerline is installed and operational the existing powerline and poles will be decommissioned.
