Wapachewunak Water Treatment Plant Optimization- Public Comments Invited

October 2, 2020 - Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Wapachewunak Water Treatment Plant Optimization, located in Wapachewunak IR 192D is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

The existing water treatment plant on Wapachewunak IR 192D has reached the end of its life span at 40 years old. the proposed project includes excavation for new reservoir, underground utilities and site improvements.  Construction will span over the course of one year, beginning April 2021, completion in August 2022.  Commissioning of new systems and Demolition of existing structures is required.  Contractor will haul material offsite to regional disposal site for recycling / disposalas necessary. Water treatment plant upgrades, including a new concrete storage reservoir, building expanasion, installation of new treatment system, mechanical and electrical upgrades.
