Public Notice - Notice of Intent

Joyceville Institution Cattle and Goat Barn Construction–

August 17, 2020 The Correctional Service of Canada must decide whether the proposed project located in Joyceville, Ontario is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Correctional Service of Canada is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

As part of the re-opening of CORCAN farms at Joyceville Institution, Ontario, new barns will be built for dairy operations.  The barns will be of 9,547 m2 in total size, and will house the operations for both cow and goat dairy farming.  The barns will also include offices for staff and classrooms for offender programs.  The barns will be built near the former Joyceville farming operation, but will also expand into the adjacent fields.
