The Proposed Project

Carlson Construction Group proposes to amend the scope of their existing project permit No. 20-010: Vito Shipyard Wharf Repairs. The project site is located at 9497 River Road, Delta. The additional scope includes installation of approximately ten new timber piles, and replacement of approximately six existing timber piles and five existing steel piles. The new and replacement piles are required to increase structural integrity of the wharf.  Piles will be installed by drop or impact hammer during the fish least risk window for the Fraser River. The works are proposed to be conducted by both barge and from the upland and/or wharf.

Under the existing project permit No. 20-010: Vito Shipyard Wharf Repairs, the scope of works include structural repairs to the wharf including the installation of steel support piles and repairs to timber components and the installation of a new geotube. The geotube is a geotextile scour protection structure that prevents shoreline erosion from underneath the wharf. Gantry cranes are proposed to be installed inside the existing fabrication building and require foundation upgrades including installation of micropiles, steel columns, and rail beams on top of the new foundation structure.
