Notice of Determination for the Shellbrook Sand & Gravel Permit
July 21, 2020 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Shellbrook Sand & Gravel Permit is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
The determination was based on the following factors:
- by Band Council Resolution and application for permit, Sturgeon Lake First Nation requested that Indigenous Services Canada issue a Sand & Gravel permit to the Rural Municipality of Shellbrook for a 3 year period
-Sturgeon Lake First Nation will receive resource revenue which benefits the First Nation and its membership
-no public comments were received concerning the project
-mitigation measures outlined in operation and restoration plan
Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:
-fuel storage and machinery refueling practices
- leveling and restoration of exhausted areas
Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
