The Proposed Project

The Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Garden Village on Nipissing First Nation lands is currently undergoing upgrades and an overall expansion of the plant footprint. The work involved will upgrade the plant to remove Tri-Halomethanes in the drinking water, resulting in clean water for residences. The proposed work includes upgrading the capacity of the resevoir, changing the filtration system and installing new water mains for reaching new residences. The result of the work will see the plant expanded beyond 1,000 Square Meters and see some tree clearing to install the new mains.

It is noted that Nipissing First Nation is operational under their First Nations Land Managemeng Agreement, and as such, has reviewed this project internally and found no issues in regards to environmental concerns with the project.
