The Proposed Project:

The removal and replacement of Big Creek Bridge with a new approximately 34.1m multi-span bridge with a cross-section that will be widened to contain two vehicular lanes and two paved shoulders to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists. Reinforced concrete parapet walls with bicycle railings on both sides of the structure will provide additional cyclist safety. The resurfacing and widening of approximately 4.3 km of the Causeway from Front Street to Erie Boulevard is ineligible for reimbursement. The road alignment at the bridge will be shifted to the west into the Big Creek National Wildlife Area by approximately 7 metres to maintain access to local laneways and to accommodate a raised road elevation for flood mitigation.
