Notice of intent to make a determination
Shoal Lake 40 New K-8 School – Public Comments Invited
April 23, 2020 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Shoal Lake 40 New K-8 School, located in Shoal Lake 40 First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project
To construct a new 1,704 sq. m K-8 school building with classrooms, library, cafeteria, multi-purpose rooms, a large gymnasium, staff offices, meeting rooms and support spaces. The school grounds will also include a soccer field, basketball court, playgrounds, outdoor cooking area and outdoor educational areas, as well as support infrastructure such as garbage collection, snow storage areas, parking lot and a septic tank and field. The school site covers an area of approximately 3.5 ha.
