Construction of a Boat Storage Facility at Colwood, CFB Esquimalt

February 3, 2020 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project Construction of a Boat Storage Facility at Colwood, CFB Esquimalt is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

This project involves the construction of a boat storage facility at CFB Esquimalt's Colwood property. The facility will be a purpose built independent climate controlled storage building capable of housing 4 trailer mounted boats, a prime mover (truck) and 1 additional drive through equipment loading bay. The facility will be a slab on grade steel frame building, with an anticipated footprint of ~1068 square metres. An asphalt paved lot will be installed surrounding the building. The site is currently an unused dirt parking lot.
